The Capital City Knights came out flying on home ice, putting ten shots on net in the first period and grabbing an early lead. Braxton Rennick opened the scoring midway through the frame, assisted by Yuito Yamamoto and Jesse Larson, before Crostyn Monea doubled the Knights' advantage late in the period. However, MOB Hockey weathered the storm and a parade of penalties, including three minors to Adam McMillan, to keep the game within reach. The Knights' two-goal lead felt tenuous, especially as MOB began to find their legs.
The second period was a complete reversal of fortune, as MOB Hockey unleashed a relentless offensive assault, outshooting the Knights 19-8. Mason Macdonnell kickstarted the comeback with an early even-strength goal. After the Knights' Reese Milroy briefly restored the two-goal cushion, MOB erupted for three unanswered tallies. Brodyn King and Ryker Philpott scored in quick succession, and Mason Macdonnell netted his second of the game—the eventual game-winner—just before the intermission to give MOB a commanding 5-3 lead. The period was marred by chippy play, with multiple roughing and slashing minors handed out to both sides.
Any hope of a Knights' comeback was extinguished in the third period as MOB Hockey continued their dominance, adding three more goals to their tally. Ryker Philpott scored his second of the night, followed by markers from Jaxon Dyke and Liam Rodriguez. The line of Brodyn King, Mason Macdonnell, and Ryker Philpott was particularly lethal for MOB, combining for multiple goals and assists. While the Knights matched MOB with ten shots in the final frame, they could not solve Koston Hulan, who backstopped MOB to a decisive 7-3 road victory with a perfect, albeit untracked, performance in net.
