The Rebels Hockey Academy came out flying on home ice, firing an impressive 16 shots in the opening period and striking first. Gunner Bohning, assisted by Ethan Dyck, found the back of the net early to give the Rebels a 1-0 lead. However, MOB Hockey weathered the early storm and responded with authority. Adam McMillan evened the score, and before the period was out, Brodyn King put MOB ahead 2-1, with McMillan returning the favor with an assist. The Rebels' offensive pressure in the first was not reflected on the scoreboard, a trend that would define the game.
The second period was a complete reversal of fortune and the turning point of the contest. MOB Hockey seized control, outshooting the Rebels 19-1 and capitalizing on a parade of penalties. Mason Macdonnell scored what would stand as the game-winner early in the frame. Then, with his team shorthanded, Ryker Philpott delivered a massive momentum goal to extend the lead to 4-1. Just six seconds later, on the ensuing power play, Deegan Sheppard buried another for MOB, making it 5-1 in a stunning 11-second span. The Rebels managed a brief response from Cole Stewart, assisted by Kash Dreger and Maxwell Menzies, but the damage was done. The period was marred by six minor penalties, with MOB's special teams proving far more lethal.
The third period saw the Rebels desperately try to mount a comeback, unleashing another 17 shots, but they could not solve the MOB defense. The game grew increasingly chippy, culminating in a major penalty and game misconduct for MOB's Ryker Philpott for an illegal check to the head. Despite the extended power play, the Rebels could not capitalize, and MOB Hockey's goaltender, backed by a strong team defensive effort, shut the door the rest of the way to secure a decisive 5-2 victory. The story was MOB's lethal efficiency, particularly in the middle frame, where they turned a tight game into a comfortable lead they would never relinquish.
