The HDC Bandits and Riggers Hockey Academy treated fans to a back-and-forth thriller that ended in a 4-4 deadlock, a game defined by special teams, third-period fireworks, and a dramatic late equalizer. The action started early as the Bandits' Braydon Rasmussen opened the scoring just 27 seconds into the game. But the Riggers responded on the power play, with Lincoln Laschowski burying a setup from Theo Medeiros and Rory Klaassen to knot the game. The first period was a parade to the penalty box, with four minors called, setting a physical and sometimes undisciplined tone for the contest.
After a second period that saw only one goal—a marker from the Bandits' Arie Vdovine, assisted by Oakley Hansen—the game exploded in the final frame. Riggers forward Ryder Cross took over, scoring twice, including an unassisted effort just two minutes into the period to give his team the lead, and another midway through to extend it. But the Bandits weren't done. Rasmussen netted his second of the game to pull the home side within one, only for Lincoln Laschowski to answer right back with his second of the night, restoring the two-goal cushion with help from Koen Patterson and Ryder Cross.
With time winding down and the game seemingly slipping away, the Bandits mounted one final push. Pulling their goalie for an extra attacker paid off when defenseman Weston Bruce fired home the tying goal with just 40 seconds left on the clock, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Assists went to Rowan Montebovi and Arie Vdovine, capping a seesaw battle that saw both teams trade blows until the final horn. In a game where goalie stats went untracked, the offensive firepower on both sides was on full display, with Rasmussen, Laschowski, and Cross delivering standout performances in a contest that deserved no loser.
