The second period was where the Caps truly seized control. Carter Moore completed his hat trick early in the frame, with Allenback and Okeymaw picking up their second assists of the night. The game-winning goal came from Jacob Kwiatkowski with just 22 seconds left in the period, a dagger that seemed to deflate the Wild. Incredibly, Kwiatkowski scored again just 13 seconds later, with Jack Chatterley assisting on both late tallies to send the Caps into the second intermission with a commanding 6-2 lead.
