The North Stars Hockey Academy and the Warriors Hockey Academy (Sask) treated fans to an absolute offensive spectacle, with the North Stars ultimately prevailing 8-7 in a game that featured a stunning 15 goals and a dramatic penalty shot decider. The North Stars came out flying in the first period, establishing a commanding lead with a trio of quick goals. Nash Brand (#15) opened the scoring, followed by Tanner Curley (#93) and Kobe Carpenter (#48), who all found the net in rapid succession. The home team dominated the shot clock 12-2 in the opening frame, leaving the Warriors reeling.
The Warriors, however, showed incredible resilience in a wild second period. After Dylan Cannon (#43) extended the North Stars' lead, the Warriors erupted for four unanswered goals. Benjamin Miller (#14), Meyer Rokosh (#5), Owen Blume (#21), and Kaleb Bodnar (#24) all scored to swing the momentum and tie the game. The North Stars responded with two of their own from Carson Febbraro (#19) and a second from Nash Brand, but the period ended with the teams locked in a 6-6 tie after a combined eight goals in the middle frame. The physicality ramped up as well, with matching roughing minors to the Warriors' James Grant and the North Stars' Weston Weir.
The third period was a tense, back-and-forth affair. Weston Weir (#34) gave the North Stars a crucial lead early, but the Warriors fought back yet again. Kaleb Bodnar netted his second of the game, and Nash Reschny (#93) scored to give the Warriors their first lead of the night at 7-6. With time winding down and the North Stars on a late power play, River Andrews (#96) scored a shorthanded goal to seemingly ice the game for the Warriors. However, in the final second, the North Stars were awarded a penalty shot. With the game on his stick, Kobe Carpenter (#48) stepped up and coolly converted, sending the game to overtime tied at 7-7. In the extra frame, it was Carpenter again who played the hero, scoring the game-winning goal to cap off a chaotic and unforgettable victory for the North Stars.
