Before the Knights could recover, Luke Hargrave doubled the lead, finishing a play set up by Jett Holmes and Keaton Niles. The Knights' frustrations boiled over with a slashing penalty to Jack Bendall, and the Saints capitalized just before the period ended. Jett Holmes buried the eventual game-winner with just a minute left in the first, with helpers from Carson Rath and Hudson Goertzen, sending the Saints to the intermission with a commanding 3-0 lead.
The Knights found their legs in the second period, finally solving the Saints' defense. Kristian Dvorski got the home side on the board midway through the frame, converting a pass from Daxton Wells and Theo Goudreau.
