In a wild, back-and-forth offensive showcase, the Saints Pro Hockey Academy outlasted the Stars Hockey Academy 9-8 in a game that featured 17 goals and a frantic final period. The first period set the tone for the entire contest, with both teams trading blows in a seven-goal explosion. The Saints struck first with Greyson Hayes and Turner Mobley finding the net early, but the Stars answered back quickly with Dane Swyripa scoring twice and Matix Miller adding another. Colten Rice and Matt Szybunka scored for the Saints, but Hunter Liu closed the period with a last-second goal to keep things tight. The period ended with the Saints holding a narrow 5-3 lead after outshooting the Stars 15 to 9.
The second period saw the penalty boxes get a serious workout, with a total of six infractions called. Amidst the chaos, the Saints extended their lead. Greyson Hayes netted his second of the game, and Jace Filewich also scored to give the Saints a seemingly comfortable 7-3 advantage. However, a major boarding penalty assessed to Bowen Herman gave the Stars a significant power play opportunity heading into the final frame, setting the stage for a dramatic comeback attempt. The Stars capitalized on that momentum early in the third, with Griffin O'Reilly and Tred Gano scoring to cut the deficit to just two goals. Matix Miller netted his second of the game, and Remington House scored to bring the Stars within one, before Tred Gano struck again to tie the game at 8-8 with just over three minutes remaining, completing a stunning five-goal run.
Just when it seemed the Stars had completed an incredible comeback, the Saints dug deep. Bowen Herman, fresh out of the box, redeemed himself by scoring to put the Saints back in front. Then, with just over a minute left on the clock, Theodore Duiker became the hero, firing home the game-winning goal with assists from Nathan Escobedo and Ashton McAdam. The Saints' offense, which fired 42 shots on goal, ultimately proved too much in a game where defense was optional and every shift promised another scoring chance.
