From the opening puck drop, the Spartans controlled the pace, outshooting the Crusaders 36 to 17 over the course of the game. The tone was set early when Jack Koochin, assisted by Maxwell Kramer and Renim Kaiser, found the back of the net at 2:34 of the first period for what would stand as the game-winning goal. Despite a pair of first-period penalties to Luke Menzies, the Crusaders couldn't capitalize on the power play, foreshadowing a long night for their offense.
The second period was an absolute explosion for the Spartans, who netted four unanswered goals in a dominant five-minute span. Elis Roberts started the onslaught at 11:46, followed quickly by Chale Primrose at 9:29. Roberts then netted his second of the game just 69 seconds later at 8:20, showcasing a lethal finishing touch. Renim Kaiser capped off the incredible flurry at 6:53, with Maxwell Kramer registering his fourth assist of the period on the play. Kramer was the undeniable engine of the offense, finishing the night with a remarkable four assists.
In net, Elis Roberts was a brick wall for the Spartans, turning aside all 17 shots he faced to earn a well-deserved shutout. His counterpart, Torey Aldous of the Crusaders, faced a relentless barrage, stopping 31 of 36 shots in a valiant effort. The Crusaders' discipline was tested as Parker Butterwick of the Spartans found himself in the penalty box three times in the third period, but their power play units remained silent all night.
