In a wild, back-and-forth affair, the Queen City Young Guns held off a furious late rally from the Young Kings Hockey to secure a 6-5 victory. The game was a showcase of offensive firepower and resilience, with the Young Guns building a multi-goal lead only to see it nearly evaporate in a frantic final period. Emerson Aulie, wearing number 22, was an early catalyst for the home side, netting two goals, including a key second-period marker. The Young Kings, however, refused to go quietly, with Hunter Lee (#16) and Beckett Cochrane (#10) leading a desperate charge that turned the final minutes into a heart-stopping spectacle.
The game's physical nature was evident from the opening frame, with penalties piling up for both sides. The Young Guns capitalized on their early momentum, with Ledger Kachur (#62) and Emerson Aulie striking just ten seconds apart in the first period to establish an early lead. The middle frame saw more penalties, including a body check by Owen Siemens (#91) and a hooking call on Ben Doran (#7), but the Young Guns managed to extend their lead through Aulie's second of the night. Young Kings finally broke through in the final seconds of the period, as Hunter Lee scored with just 16 seconds left, assisted by Nixon Undershute (#8), to swing some momentum their way heading into the third.
That momentum carried into a chaotic final period. Young Kings' Beckett Cochrane and Jayme Smith (#15) scored to pull within one, but the Young Guns responded with a stunning, rapid-fire double from Hayden Wickenheiser (#43), who scored twice in just 12 seconds to seemingly put the game out of reach at 5-3. Yet again, the Young Kings clawed back, with Hunter Lee netting his second and Lowen Tailfeathers (#71) scoring with just 20 seconds remaining to make it a one-goal game. The Young Guns' game-winner, however, had come just 29 seconds prior, as Connor Hanska (#88) found the back of the net with under a minute to play, assisted by Tucker Rudnitski (#11) and Bauer Bilinski (#96), whose three assists were pivotal. In the end, the Young Guns' explosive offense, led by Wickenheiser's late heroics and Bilinski's playmaking, proved just enough to survive the Kings' relentless onslaught.
