The HDC Bandits and Calgary Crusaders delivered a hard-hitting, back-and-forth battle that saw the home team emerge with a narrow 4-3 victory. The game opened with early fireworks as Patrick Catellier gave the Bandits the lead at 13:16 of the first period, but Calgary's Beau Bennefield answered just over six minutes later, assisted by Jacob Jones, to knot the score at 1-1. The first period set a physical tone with three minor penalties, including roughing calls against Clark MacCallum and Sullivan Howe, and a tripping penalty against Colton Toner.
The second period belonged to the Crusaders, who unleashed a staggering 21 shots on goal. Oliver Burak put Calgary ahead at 9:50, with assists from Landon Devries and Sullivan Howe, before Howe scored one of his own at 6:55 with help from Marcus Cabana to extend the lead to 3-1. The period descended into chaos with five penalties called in just over five minutes, including matching roughing minors to Colton Miller and Marcus Cabana, and a high-sticking call against Levi Giesbrecht. Despite being outshot 21-3 in the period, the Bandits managed to stay within striking distance thanks to their resilient defensive effort.
The third period saw a dramatic reversal of fortune as the Bandits capitalized on Calgary's discipline issues. Just five seconds into a hooking penalty to Kairo Fedoruk, Colton Toner scored a power play goal at 16:18 to cut the deficit to one. Then, after the Crusaders were whistled for too many men on the ice, Toner struck again on the power play at 14:21, assisted by Nathan Small, to complete his heroic third-period brace and tie the game at 3-3. The Bandits continued to press, outshooting Calgary 10-12 in the final frame, and found the game-winner to complete their comeback in a contest that featured 14 total penalties and relentless action from start to finish.
