The Calgary Crusaders stormed out of the gate with an explosive first period, setting the tone for a decisive 5-2 victory over the Young Kings Colorado. The home team’s offense was relentless from the opening face-off, with Logan Sullivan and Nash Parker striking just 23 seconds apart early in the period to give the Crusaders a commanding 2-0 lead. The Young Kings, already reeling, were further punished on the power play after taking two early penalties. Sullivan Howe capitalized on the man advantage, netting what would stand as the game-winning goal before the first period was even halfway over. The Crusaders' early blitz proved insurmountable, as they carried a 3-0 lead and all the momentum into the first intermission.
The second period saw the Crusaders extend their lead when Marcus Cabana found the back of the net, assisted by Nash Parker, pushing the score to 4-0. The Young Kings finally broke through midway through the period with a goal from Michael Jend, assisted by Asher Dyrek, offering a glimmer of hope. However, the period was marred by a parade to the penalty box, with five minors called between the two teams. Despite outshooting the Crusaders 11-11 in the frame, the Young Kings couldn't capitalize further on their opportunities, largely due to the stellar, albeit untracked, performance of Calgary's goalie Torey Aldous, who faced a heavy workload and turned everything aside through two periods.
Young Kings Colorado came out with renewed vigor in the third, desperately trying to mount a comeback and heavily outshooting Calgary 16-8. Their efforts were rewarded when Reed Loughman scored, assisted by Ryker Wellman, to cut the deficit to 4-2. Any hopes of a dramatic finish were quickly extinguished, however, as Sullivan Howe netted his second goal of the game just 34 seconds later, assisted by London Choukalos and Jacob Jones, to restore the three-goal cushion. The Crusaders' defense and goaltending locked things down from there, with Aldous officially credited with the win despite the lack of tracked saves, securing a convincing victory for Calgary on home ice.
