The Young Kings Hockey team exploded for five first-period goals in a commanding 8-3 victory over Riggers Hockey Academy. The home team set the tone early and never looked back, overwhelming the Riggers with a relentless offensive attack that produced 37 shots on goal. Raine Lehmann opened the scoring at even strength just over seven minutes into the game, and the floodgates immediately opened. Boswell Koliaska capitalized on a power play chance, and then the Kings' penalty kill took over, scoring two shorthanded goals in a span of just 20 seconds from Thatcher Zaina and Jayme Smith, with Smith's marker standing as the game-winner. Hunter Lee added another before the period ended, sending the Kings to the intermission with a stunning 5-0 lead.
The second period saw the penalty boxes get a workout, with both teams combining for eight infractions. Beckett Cochrane extended the Kings' lead on the power play, but the Riggers finally got on the board when Landon Sangster answered with a power-play goal of his own, assisted by Zak Reslan. The Kings' Jackson Pregernig restored the five-goal cushion late in the period with another power-play tally, assisted by Nixon Undershute. The physical play continued, with trips, body checks, and interference calls keeping the special teams units busy throughout the frame.
Any thought of a Riggers comeback was quickly extinguished in the third period as Beckett Cochrane netted his second of the night, assisted by Indy Bonogofski. The Riggers showed some fight with Vance Getzinger scoring a shorthanded goal and Cohen Golinsky adding a late even-strength marker, but the deficit was far too large to overcome. The game ended with a pair of roughing minors as tempers flared, a fitting end to a chippy contest. The Young Kings' offensive depth was on full display, with seven different players finding the back of the net in a comprehensive team victory.
