The Spartan Hockey Academy 17M unleashed a relentless offensive attack, particularly in a dominant second period, to cruise to an 8-3 victory over the HDC Bandits. The game started with the Bandits showing some early fight, as Colton Miller capitalized on a power play chance, assisted by Colton Toner, to give the home side a 1-0 lead. However, the Spartans quickly turned the tide with a stunning short-handed response from Nolan Dreger in the final second of the first period, setting the stage for a complete takeover.
The middle frame was an absolute clinic from the Spartans, who outshot the Bandits by a staggering 27-3 margin. The floodgates opened with Maxwell Kramer scoring just 26 seconds after Dreger's shorty. Dreger then added his second of the night, followed by the game-winner from Jack Koochin, who was set up by Dreger and Renim Kaiser. Kramer netted his second of the period, and the Spartans' offensive barrage was only briefly interrupted by a Bandits' goal from Colton Toner, assisted by Patrick Catellier. The period was marred by penalties, with the Bandits' Mateo Sotto and the Spartans' Maxwell Kramer and Parker Butterwick all spending time in the box, but the Spartans' five-on-five play was simply overwhelming.
Any hope of a Bandits comeback was extinguished early in the third. Nolan Dreger completed his hat trick just 32 seconds into the period, and Jacob Mack scored twice to put an exclamation point on the Spartan performance. Colton Toner managed a late consolation goal for the Bandits, but it did little to dampen the Spartan celebration. The game grew chippy late, with coincidental cross-checking minors to the Bandits' Patrick Catellier and the Spartans' Nolan Dreger, but the story was written by the Spartan's relentless pressure and finishing, led by Dreger's three-goal, two-assist masterclass.
