The Spartan Hockey Academy unleashed a relentless offensive onslaught, cruising to a decisive 10-2 victory over Spartan Hockey Academy 17M in a game that was effectively decided by a dominant second and third period. The 17M squad actually struck first, with Maxwell Kramer opening the scoring at 11:21 of the first period to give his team an early lead. However, the Academy team quickly responded on the power play, as Cole Stamler netted his first of the night with just over a minute left in the opening frame, setting the tone for what was to come. The game remained tight until the final minute of the second period when Sawyer Tams scored to make it 2-1, igniting a scoring explosion.
The floodgates truly opened in the second half of the game. Colton Dobek scored what would stand as the game-winner at 6:28 of the second, assisted by Mason Piteau and Tams, to give the Academy a lead they would never relinquish. The 17M team briefly answered through Jack Koochin, but the third period belonged entirely to the Academy. They poured in six goals, showcasing a lethal power play and opportunistic scoring. Mason Piteau started the barrage with a shorthanded marker, followed by goals from Drew Bateman, Nixon Haggins, and a second from Cole Stamler on the power play. The Academy capitalized on a flurry of penalties against the 17M team, including two to Renim Kaiser, to extend their lead. Hayden Piche, Sawyer Tams with his second, and Jagger Zatzek rounded out the scoring in a commanding final frame.
The penalty box was a busy place for the 17M squad, who took seven infractions including a bench minor for too many men. This discipline issue allowed the Academy's special teams to shine, converting two power-play goals and adding a shorthanded tally. Standout performances were plentiful for the victors. Sawyer Tams and Cole Stamler each finished with two goals, while Colton Dobek and Nixon Haggins contributed a goal and an assist apiece. The Academy's offensive pressure was consistent, outshooting their opponents 30-25 and turning a close game into a decisive statement win.
