The Spartan Hockey Academy rode a hat-trick performance from Sawyer Tams and a resilient third-period response to secure a 6-4 victory over the Stars Hockey Academy in a back-and-forth offensive battle. The game was defined by a dominant Spartan start, a furious Stars comeback, and a decisive Spartan answer to seal the win. Tams was the story early, scoring twice in the opening 30 seconds of the first period to immediately put the Stars on their heels. He completed his hat-trick in the second period, and a goal from Dexter Dutton gave the Spartans a commanding 4-0 lead heading into the final frame, seemingly putting the game out of reach.
The Stars, however, authored a stunning third-period rally that electrified their bench. Led by Beckham Alexander, who netted a natural hat-trick of his own, the Stars stormed back into contention. Alexander’s first goal, assisted by Tred Gano, broke the shutout at 15:36. Just 55 seconds later, he scored again unassisted, and 25 seconds after that, Griffin O’Reilly found the net with help from Landon Holmberg. In a breathtaking span of just 80 seconds, the Stars had cut the deficit to 4-3. Alexander completed his hat-trick at 10:44, again from Gano, to tie the game at four and complete a miraculous comeback from four goals down.
The Spartans, however, showed their composure to reclaim the lead for good. Just over a minute after the Stars tied it, George Belandis scored the eventual game-winner, assisted by Drew Bateman, to make it 5-4. Bateman then added an insurance marker of his own late in the period, assisted by Hayden Piche, to seal the 6-4 victory. The game was a physical affair, with Stars' Bekham Mellon taking three minor penalties and a late roughing double-minor with Spartan Kace Zemluk highlighting the tense finish. In the end, the Spartans' explosive start and timely response to the Stars' furious rally were enough to earn them the two points in a memorable Hockey Super League clash.
