The Young Kings Hockey team skated to a thrilling 4-3 road victory over the HDC Bandits in a game defined by momentum swings and a relentless offensive pace. The Bandits struck first on home ice, with Colton Toner (#70) opening the scoring midway through the first period, assisted by Griffin Reinsborough (#13) and Nathan Small (#37). The Young Kings responded with authority, however, as Marek Ohler (#79) and Lowen Tailfeathers (#71) scored within five minutes to seize a 2-1 lead. The Bandits' Nathan Small (#37) answered back just over a minute later, converting a setup from Toner to knot the game at 2-2 heading into the first intermission.
The second period saw special teams take center stage. Capitalizing on a major penalty to Young Kings' Owen Siemens (#91), the Bandits' Mateo Sotto (#8) buried a power-play goal, assisted by Clark MacCallum (#98) and Patrick Catellier (#16), to reclaim the lead at 3-2. The Young Kings' penalty kill was tested again later in the period, but they weathered the storm and found the equalizer at even strength. Jayme Smith (#15) finished a play set up by Nixon Undershute (#8) and Jackson Pregernig (#11) to make it 3-3, setting the stage for a dramatic final frame.
The third period was a goaltending duel under heavy fire, with the Young Kings' Treyton Komaromi (#35) and the Bandits' Atlas Vdovine (#34) facing a combined 34 shots. The Young Kings' pressure finally paid off at the halfway mark when Jackson Pregernig (#11) netted the game-winning goal, completing a multi-point night. The Bandits poured on 16 shots in a desperate attempt to tie the game, but Komaromi and a disciplined Young Kings defense held firm, especially after killing off a late penalty. Despite being outshot 37-41 overall, the Young Kings made their chances count, with Pregernig and Smith leading the offensive charge to secure a hard-fought two points on the road.
