The Caps continued their assault throughout the first period, capitalizing on multiple Grizzlies penalties with power play goals from Nixon Ryan and Nash Whalen, the latter proving to be the game-winner. Schwartz added his second of the period in the final moments, giving the Caps a commanding 4-0 lead heading into the first intermission despite being outshot 10-1 in the opening frame.
The middle period saw the Grizzlies finally get on the board with a power play marker from Kaiden Thiessen, assisted by Rhys Sinclair and Alexandre LeBlanc. However, the comeback hopes were short-lived as the Caps tightened their defensive play and limited quality chances. The third period turned into a shooting gallery for the visitors as they poured in four more goals, including two from Lucas Mullen just 29 seconds apart and a hat-trick completing power play goal from Schwartz. Sawyer Laviolette managed a late consolation goal for the Grizzlies, but it was little more than a footnote in what had become a rout.
Russell Elliott was perfect in net for the Caps, stopping all 17 shots he faced for a shutout performance, while the Caps' offensive trio of Schwartz, Mullen, and Ryan proved unstoppable, combining for seven of the team's eight goals. The Grizzlies' discipline issues proved costly throughout the game, taking six penalties that the Caps converted into three power play goals. Despite a stronger shot performance in the final two periods, the Grizzlies couldn't solve Elliott, who stood tall to secure the decisive road victory for the Caps Hockey Club.
