From the opening faceoff, it was clear that the Spartan Hockey Academy came to play, setting a relentless pace that the HDC Bandits struggled to match. The Spartans fired 13 shots in the first period alone, with Koen Buckingham opening the scoring at the 13:02 mark. The momentum continued just over a minute and a half later when Tyson Raffan found the back of the net, assisted by Chris Cepicka, to give the home team a 2-0 lead. The period was marred by penalties, including a 4-minute illegal check to the head by Cepicka, but the Spartans' aggressive forecheck and offensive pressure set the tone for the entire contest.
The second period saw the floodgates truly open as the Spartans poured in three more even-strength goals. Chris Cepicka redeemed his earlier penalty by scoring just 21 seconds into the period, followed quickly by Ayden Moncks, who capitalized on a setup from Quade Toews. Tyson Raffan netted his second of the game with under a minute left in the period, showcasing the Spartans' depth and finishing ability. Despite a parade to the penalty box for both sides—including a double minor for kneeing by the Bandits' Myles Francis—the Spartans' defense, anchored by an unyielding team effort in front of goalie Kaeden Wiebe, limited the Bandits to just six shots in the frame.
Any hope of a Bandits comeback was extinguished in the third period as the Spartans' power play units went to work. Koen Buckingham scored his second of the night on the man-advantage, and Cooper Crane added another power play goal with assists from Camden Swainson and Ayden Moncks. The Bandits managed to break Wiebe's shutout bid late in the period when Cohen Rees scored on the power play, but it was a mere consolation in a game dominated by the home side. The final score of 7-1 reflected the Spartans' overwhelming shot advantage—40 to 16—and a disciplined, high-octane performance that left the HDC Bandits chasing shadows all night long.
