From the opening faceoff, the Athletics established their presence, with Tristen Paterson setting the tone early by scoring the game-winning goal just over two minutes into the first period. Paterson would go on to have a spectacular night, netting a hat trick that included two shorthanded goals just 19 seconds apart, showcasing the team's lethal penalty-killing unit. The first period was an absolute barrage as the Athletics built a commanding 6-0 lead, with additional goals from Bruin Mann, Jayce Clayton, and Blaise Sieben, leaving the Bandits reeling from the relentless pressure and a significant 17-7 shot disadvantage.
Despite the lopsided score, the game was a physical affair marked by numerous penalties. Grayden Seier of the Athletics found himself in the box four separate times, while the Bandits struggled to capitalize on their power play opportunities for much of the game. Jayce Clayton netted his second of the game for the Athletics early on, but the Bandits showed resilience with Myles Francis scoring twice, including a penalty shot, and Kayson Gulka adding another. Just as the Bandits tried to build momentum, Tristen Paterson slammed the door shut with his fourth goal of the contest, sealing his incredible individual performance and capping off a decisive win for the Junior Athletics. While the Bandits' goalies faced a staggering shot total, the Athletics' offensive machine, led by Paterson's four-goal outburst and multi-point games from several teammates, was simply unstoppable on this night.
