The Spartan Hockey Academy set the tone early and never looked back, cruising to a dominant 9-3 victory over the HDC Bandits. The game was decided in the first period, as the Spartans capitalized on their power play opportunities to build an insurmountable lead. Just seconds after the Bandits were whistled for a bench minor for too many players, Cooper Crane opened the scoring at 14:08, assisted by Camden Swainson and Chase Harris. The Spartans kept the pressure on, with Noah Crawler doubling the lead at even strength before Quade Toews netted another power-play marker late in the period, with Crane and Samuel Nowak picking up the helpers. The Bandits struggled to solve Spartan netminder Kaeden Wiebe, who turned aside all 16 shots he faced through the first two periods.
Any hopes of a Bandits comeback were extinguished in a wild and wide-open third period. The Bandits finally broke through on Wiebe, with Ruhaan Aurora and Leyton Mcconachie scoring to cut the deficit. But the Spartans' offense was simply relentless. Chase Harris scored what would stand as the game-winner at 12:29, with Crane and Swainson assisting once again. That goal sparked an incredible five-goal outburst in just over six minutes of play. Chris Cepicka, Cameron Brien, and Quade Toews (twice more) all found the back of the net, with Brien adding his second of the period. The Spartans' top line of Crane, Swainson, and Harris was instrumental, combining for seven points, while Nowak and Tyson Raffan each chipped in with multiple assists. The Bandits' Cohen Rees scored a late consolation goal, but it did little to dampen the Spartan celebration.
The game featured a physical edge that boiled over midway through the third period, leading to a multi-player scrum and coincidental roughing minors for the Spartans' Camden Swainson and the Bandits' Hudson Van Heuvel. Despite the lopsided score, both teams fired 31 shots on goal, but the Spartans' finishing was far superior. Mason Simon faced a barrage in the Bandits' net, while Kaeden Wiebe earned a solid win for the home side. The victory was a comprehensive team effort for the Spartans, who showcased a potent power play and explosive even-strength attack to secure a decisive two points.
