From the opening puck drop, the HDC Bandits - 17M established a relentless offensive tempo that the Young Kings Colorado simply could not contain. The Bandits poured 19 shots on goal in the first period alone, setting the stage for a dominant 10-0 victory. The scoring started early and came from all over the lineup. Landry Umscheid opened the floodgates with an even-strength goal, assisted by Grayson Geers, just over six minutes into the game. Even when shorthanded, the Bandits thrived, as Grayson Geers netted a shorthanded marker and Hunter Murphy added another before the first intermission, sandwiching an even-strength goal from Bronson Woods. The Young Kings, struggling to generate offense, found themselves in a 4-0 hole after twenty minutes.
The second period saw no respite for the Young Kings. Grayson Geers continued his spectacular night, scoring another even-strength goal just 52 seconds into the frame. The Bandits' power play then went to work, capitalizing on penalties to get goals from Jovin Dhaliwal and Jett Gaulton. Gaulton would add his second of the period later on, pushing the lead to an insurmountable 8-0. The Young Kings' frustration began to show through penalties, including a body check by Bryce Ector and, more concerningly, a pair of Illegal Check to the Head minors assessed to Easton Betzing and Cruise Dawe early in the third period.
The final frame was a showcase for Grayson Geers, who completed a remarkable four-goal performance. He scored unassisted and then again just over a minute later, assisted by Wyatt MacLeod, to hit double digits for the Bandits. While the Young Kings showed a bit more fight in the third, outshooting the Bandits 9-8, they could not solve the Bandits' defensive structure or find a way past the goaltending. The game ended as a comprehensive team effort from the Bandits, highlighted by Geers' offensive explosion and a stifling defense that limited the Young Kings to just 19 total shots, securing a decisive shutout victory on the road.
