The Bow Valley Stars staged a dramatic third-period comeback to snatch a 5-4 victory from the HDC Bandits in a penalty-filled Hockey Super League clash. The game was a tale of two halves, with the Bandits dominating the early stages before the Stars' offense exploded in the final frame to turn the game on its head. The physical nature of the contest was evident from the opening minutes, with the Bandits' Bryce Ector and Cruise Dawe both taking early body-checking penalties, setting a tone that would see Dawe spend a remarkable eight minutes in the box over the course of the game.
The HDC Bandits came out flying on home ice, building a commanding 4-1 lead through two periods of play. Wyatt MacLeod opened the scoring in the first, assisted by Grayson Geers and Mason Gackle. Rowan Ellsworth and Jett Gaulton then added goals, with Gaulton's being a solo effort. Cruise Dawe, despite his penalty troubles, also found the back of the net in the second period, assisted by Easton Belanger. The Bandits' offense was relentless, outshooting the Stars 25-15 through forty minutes. However, a penalty shot awarded to Mason Gackle in the second period failed to find its mark, a missed opportunity that would loom large later in the game.
Everything changed in the third period. The Bow Valley Stars, led by the dynamic trio of Hudson Ho, Luka Kudrna, and Jagger Kildaw, mounted an incredible three-goal surge in less than six minutes to steal the win. Jagger Kildaw ignited the comeback, finishing a feed from Hudson Ho. Ho then scored one of his own, assisted by Kudrna and Logan Austin. Just over a minute later, Luka Kudrna completed the stunning turnaround, with Kildaw and Austin providing the helpers. The Bandits, reeling from the onslaught, took several more penalties in a desperate attempt to stem the tide, including another by Dawe and one by Grayson May, but they could not solve Stars' netminder Cason Waters again. In a frantic final minute, the Stars' Jaxon Richardson took an interference penalty, but the Bandits could not capitalize on the 6-on-4 advantage with their goalie pulled, sealing a hard-fought and memorable road win for Bow Valley.
