The Riggers Hockey Academy delivered a commanding performance on the road, overwhelming the Saints Pro Hockey Academy with a decisive 6-1 victory. The game started with a brief moment of hope for the home Saints, as Christian Symonds, wearing number 34, found the net early in the first period off a feed from Mason Smith. However, the celebration was short-lived. Just 34 seconds later, Riggers' Hunter Miller answered back, assisted by Connor Harris, to knot the game at 1-1 and completely shift the momentum. From that point forward, the Riggers took control, outshooting the Saints 49-41 over the course of the game and showcasing a relentless attack that the home team simply couldn't contain.
The second period was where the Riggers truly broke the game open. Nathan Chafe, number 18, scored what would stand as the game-winning goal early in the frame, with Miller picking up his second point of the night on the assist. The pressure never let up, and with just six seconds left in the period, Shea Coghill of the Riggers buried a goal to extend the lead to 3-1, deflating the Saints as they headed to the intermission. The third period was a clinic in finishing, as the Riggers poured in three more goals. Coghill scored his second of the night, rookie Maximus Bilodeau netted his first, and Keenan Farrell capped off the scoring, with Miller and Coghill continuing to pile up points on the assists. For the Saints, goalie Kyston Tremblay faced a barrage of 49 shots, while at the other end, Evan Buffalo was a brick wall for the Riggers, turning aside all 41 shots he faced for a stellar shutout performance after the first-minute goal.
Discipline became an issue for both sides as the game got out of hand, with a total of eight penalties called. The Saints were particularly hurt by a pair of Illegal Check to the Head minors, one to Jamal Caseley and another to Riggers' Hudson Nadeau in the final minute. The Riggers' power play didn't capitalize on the scoreboard, but their even-strength dominance rendered special teams a non-factor. This was a statement win for the Riggers, fueled by multi-point nights from Hunter Miller and Shea Coghill, and anchored by the impeccable goaltending of Evan Buffalo. For the Saints, it was a frustrating night where an early lead quickly vanished under an avalanche of Riggers offense.
