The Sauce Hockey Academy asserted their dominance early and often, cruising to a 5-2 victory over the Spartan Hockey Academy in a game defined by special teams and a relentless offensive push. The home side set the tone from the opening face-off, outshooting the Spartans 12-2 in the first period. However, it was the visitors who struck first on the power play, as Cohen Codner, assisted by Will Mattersdorfer and Callum Sherban, found the net late in the first to give Spartan Hockey Academy a surprising 1-0 lead. That advantage was doubled early in the second when Sawyer Grierson capitalized on another man-advantage, with helpers from Charlie DiFlumeri and Smith Gillings. Despite the scoreboard, the shot count told a different story, with Sauce pouring 19 pucks on net in the middle frame.
The turning point came midway through the second period. With Sauce trailing 2-0, Eric Bowhay, assisted by Parker Christianson and Hudson Cullen, finally solved Spartan goalie Brady James to cut the deficit in half. The goal ignited the home bench and seemed to swing all momentum. The game grew increasingly chippy, with a parade to the penalty box that saw Spartans' Callum Sherban take three minors and Sauce's Kase Lindberg and Eric Bowhay each whistled for two. This physical, penalty-laden style ultimately played into Sauce's hands.
The third period belonged entirely to Sauce Hockey Academy. Thomas Jones tied the game early, finishing a play set up by Crosby Thomas and Parker Christianson. Then, on a power play, Parker Christianson delivered the game-winner, assisted by Eli Horb, to give Sauce their first lead. With the Spartans pressing late, Thomas Jones sealed the deal with an empty-netter, and Parker Christianson added his second of the night just before the final buzzer for the 5-2 final. While Brady James faced a barrage of 42 shots for the Spartans, Sauce's Calum Stasiuk was a fortress at the other end, stopping all 18 shots he faced after entering the game to earn a shutout in relief and secure the decisive win.
