In a thrilling back-and-forth contest, Sauce Hockey Academy emerged with a narrow 5-4 victory over Spartan Hockey Academy. The game was a tale of two halves, with Sauce building an early lead only to see the Spartans mount a furious comeback before a late goal sealed the deal. The action started quickly as Sauce's Parker Christianson, assisted by Hudson Cullen and Eli Horb, opened the scoring just over seven minutes into the first period. Keaton Skinner doubled the lead less than two minutes later, with Crosby Thomas picking up the helper. Spartan Hockey Academy got on the board late in the period when Jack Blair, set up by Beckhem Falloon, cut the deficit to 2-1 heading into the intermission.
The second period was an offensive explosion, with the teams combining for five goals. Spartan Hockey Academy stormed back to take the lead, starting with Cohen Codner tying the game early, assisted by Sawyer Grierson. Beckhem Falloon then gave the Spartans their first lead, scoring with help from Stavros Warriner and Jack Blair. Cohen Codner struck again minutes later, assisted by Charlie Formenti, to extend the Spartan lead to 4-2. However, the momentum shifted dramatically in the final minutes of the period. Sauce's Eric Bowhay scored with just over a minute left, assisted by Keaton Skinner and Crosby Thomas, to pull within one goal heading into the third.
The third period saw Sauce Hockey Academy complete the comeback and Spartan Hockey Academy's offense go quiet, managing only three shots. The tying goal came from Enzo Fournier, with Crosby Thomas and Levi Pomeroy assisting, knotting the game at 4-4. From there, the Spartan attack was stifled, and despite a late penalty to Sauce's Thomas Jones, they could not regain the lead. Spartan goalie Damon Fleischer faced a barrage of 37 shots, while the Sauce goaltending tandem of Bennett Tice and Calum Stasiuk, despite the statistics showing no saves tracked, were ultimately backed by enough offense to secure the win. Penalties were a factor for the Spartans, with Callum Sherban taking two minors and Jiwu Youn serving a key penalty for an illegal check to the head in the second period. In the end, Sauce Hockey Academy's persistent attack and third-period resilience earned them the hard-fought two points.
