The Sauce Hockey Academy came out firing in their home rink, peppering Aces goalie Owen Pelletier with 15 first-period shots, but it was the Aces who struck first on the power play. With Lars Lund in the box for interference, Theodore Wells capitalized, assisted by Lund, to give the visitors a 1-0 lead despite being heavily outshot. The period saw tempers flare with a trip from Sauce's Eric Bowhay, but the Aces carried their slim advantage into the intermission, thanks entirely to Pelletier's early heroics.
The middle frame turned into a wild, back-and-forth affair dominated by special teams and momentum swings. Sauce roared back with two quick power-play goals of their own. First, Thomas Jones found the net, assisted by Parker Christianson, to tie the game. Just over five minutes later, Crosby Thomas gave Sauce their first lead with an even-strength marker, assisted by Doug Deschamps. The home crowd erupted again when Parker Christianson scored, with helpers from Rory Schollar and Hudson Cullen, to make it 3-1. However, the Aces weathered the storm and clawed back before the period ended. Brody Chetek scored late in the second, with Wells and Lund picking up their second assists of the night, cutting the deficit to 3-2 and setting up a dramatic third period.
Discipline became an issue for the Aces early in the final frame, as Theodore Wells took his second trip of the game. But Sauce couldn't extend their lead, and the Aces found their equalizer at even strength. Jude Fisher scored the crucial tying goal, assisted once more by the playmaking Wells. From there, the Aces locked things down defensively. Despite Sauce launching a desperate 22-shot barrage in the third period, Pelletier stood tall, turning everything aside to complete a remarkable 54-save shutout performance. At the other end, Sauce's Calum Stasiuk was equally perfect on the 29 shots he faced, but the four goals against on the scoreboard told the story of a game where the Aces made their limited chances count, stealing a 4-3 victory on the road in a thrilling contest.
